danw2 - vq7 EA

Another reasonably new robot of mine dated 27-09-2011 is this one using the custom VQ7 indicator, which I found on Forex Factory. What it indicates exactly, I'm not sure, but it's some sort of trend signaling deal which had some Forex Factory forum folks excited for a while.

This one back-tested extremely well with my previous extremely dodgy history data. It also back-tested OK with slightly less dodgy history data on another MetaTrader 4 installation. When forward testing on a demo account, it did OK until the market started to consolidate, and like most trend following systems, got killed.

I've quickly tried some back-tests with various settings with my freshly downloaded history data, but was unable to capture it's former glory.

Here are the results of a back-test run from 1-1-2011 to 1-1-2012, H1 time-frame, trailing-stop 60, stop-loss 30. Lot size is calculated from the initial balance, in this case $10,000 which meant initial lot size of 0.1.

Nice, steady losses!

Not wanting to leave today on a completely negative note, this robot when combined with a moving average produces a little profit. Time-frame H1, trailing-stop 30, stop-loss 20, ema 8. If you were prepared to wait an entire year, you'd have $94.92 in profit!
